The Proper way to Brush your Teeth

July 29, 2016

Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is important for your dental care. You will want to make sure you brush and floss your teeth correctly, to avoid any issues like cavities.

Make sure to brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled brush. The size and shape of your brush should fit your mouth allowing you to reach all areas easily. Also remember to replace your toothbrush every three or four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush will not do a good job of cleaning your teeth. You will want to make sure you are using toothpaste that has fluoride in it also.

Brushing your teeth is easy, first, place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Then gently move the brush back and forth in short, tooth-wide strokes. Brush the outer surfaces, the inner surfaces, and the chewing surfaces of the teeth. To clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and-down strokes. Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and keep your breath fresh.

Besides brushing, you will also wan to make sure to clean between teeth daily with floss. Tooth decay-causing bacteria still linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles cannot reach. This helps remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line. Also make sure to come in for regular check ups so we can check between you teeth and check the condition of your mouth and gums.
